Congratulations! Would like it if renewing subscribers has continued access to Price Finder instead of just for new subscribers?

@Daisycutter4 Congratulations for your new position.
Can I ask how do you get in touch with these investors that talk about their property journey?

A lot of them come to us - we get emails every day from them, that would be our biggest pool on contacts. We source others from buyers agents and other professionals etc too, plus just word of mouth from attending functions and seminars. I've even had a couple from my valuation days.

    Congrats!!

I enjoy the mag for the case studies and tips. I have a stack of them waiting to be read after I finish up my renovations.

Hi, yes, congrats on the position.

The added benefits for forum members is a good idea :)

    Weird ?
Unless they got something to sell, why would investors approach a magazine to write about them?
Does it make them feel special?
Or do they genuinely feel they are helping others by giving their advice?

Maybe the forumites who have been featured in API could comment.
I guess it's mainly to share their investment journey and share lessons learnt, which is a good thing...
I don't think it's only for ego... (even if I'm sure that's the driver for some of them)

I always thought those people featured were invited/requested, that's why when it was mentioned that most people elected/volunteered themselves, it seems odd.

A lot are proud of what they've done (and rightly so) and most do feel that they have real-life experience that can help other investors. I actually kinda dig that :)

We do do some detective work as well, but it's mostly volunteers who are excited about their story.

Nice work on the new position.
Maybe more regular case studies on how an expert property investor would handle certain situations in the investment cycle.

Firstly a massive congratulations! Looking very much forward to reading.

This would be fantastic and a number of people have been open on this forum over the years. I am sure a few would come forward.

I think the key missing is substance behind comments experts make. Admittedly I have not read all Investor magazines but I do find just single sentences like "avoid fixing for long periods" or "avoid crossing propeties" and that's really it.
A rookie investor reads this and goes ok fair enough but has no idea of the pitfalls. They then walk into a bank/broker who proposes this, they say "I read not to" but that's as much as they know. A banker or broker could quickly churn out a few positives and convince them otherwise.

If they had actual case studies showing in detail what can actually happen then they would be so much better equipped! I know myself for example kept reading don't cross! I asked the brokers "ok fair enough but give me ACTUAL examples". After about 3 posts I got the message loud and clear :)

    It's been mentioned before.
It would be really great to do updates on past interviewees to see where they are now, and if all have gone on to achieve their goals.
A random selection on candidates over the past 10 years would be good.
Although, if things have gone bad, they may decline and you won't get a true representation of real success rate of the total group.

I agree - a 'ten year - where are they now' recoup would be great
