neighbour pressure cleaned roof tiles that had 100 years of muck on them, causing my house windows, path, trees, to all be filthy

the problem is they want to clean it all by pressure hose for my house

but i cant have that for 2 reasons

1 the drainage is bad on that side . there are trenches along the fence that are not properly cleared and water doesnt drain down there. the water would go under my house and once that happens it cant be gotten out and the house is low you cant access it from under the house. there are wooden floorboards etc. its a 100 year old house

2 the mortar in part of my house is completely gone with loose bricks.
i've never found out how to easily fill them so it cant be pressure cleaned

they just filled all the gaps in their old house and roof but i havent so pressure hose on my house or roof or mortar and with the drainage is a worry.

    what can i tell them

i've said i want to be home and only a normal hose or use brooms or something to try to clean dirt off house

a i've put in writing the problems above with drainage and mortar so i cant have water pressure

a friend came around and saw that the dirt cmes off quite easily from windows and walls when dry with a brush or broom so maybe they will do that
they say rain tonight might clean it a bit.

Pressure cleaning uses very little water.

If your worried about water from a pressure washer. You will have issues when it rains.

Fretting cement in brick work needs to be replaced. Failure to maintain your property " keep in good condition" may effect your building insurance making a claim read PDS

Is your neighbor an insured contractor ?

If not get on to Google and find a contractor to quote and the neighbor can pay !
You will then be covered and have recourse for any damage (plenty of pic's before, during and after).

Outright inconsiderate of your neighbor to do this to your home.

Using a hose and broom will mean you have a much much much higher volume of water running for much much longer. A pressure washer wont run much water .

just a broom not a hose as it comes off easily to touch both from windows and walls when dry

    There's a difference between pressure & volume.

    But volume creates pressure.

all your info has been very helpful thank you

its a professional so they have probably industry grade who did this and who would be cleaning the side of my home

i think if he uses low pressure and doesnt touch the parts where there could be missing mortar such as the lowest metre of that wall
and the front few metres of that wall

    then it could be ok

My old neighbours did this to me, the only reason i found out was i had a small amount of water on the carpet and kitchen bench and when i went looking the water had come through the old aluminum sliding windows. So that prompted a further investigation and i saw the guy on the other side of the roof with a pressure wash and the lovely clean tiles.

Turns out the guy use the high pressure hose on the windows and walls, no damage just a pain to clean up.

They were lovely neighbours so i wasn't making a big deal, the contractor apologized and dropped a case of beer and a bottle of white on the verandah that evening so win win for all.
