We have a weekender which we're planning on renting out in the next 6-9 months. We're working through the process , but one important thing we need is a name .

It's a large upmarket house that can fit larger groups . It's on the waterfront and most times we're up there we see dolphins and turtles . It has brilliant views and the sunsets are as nice as anywhere we've seen . It's at north arm cove and when we talk about it we say we're going to " the cove " . We're about to have a jetty installed . The agents who we've talked to say that people mainly search for port Stephens as most people have never heard of north arm cove , so the name would be a double barrel name such as thecove@portstephens .

BTW , we don't want anything that implies it's a party houses . It's a quiet chill out location.

    Thoughts we've had are

Serenity ( movie and location )
Summer breeze ( song and location )
    Dolphin cove
    The dolphins
    Turtle cove
    The cove
    Tranquility
    Sea breeze
SeaChange ( ok , so I've spelt in incorrectly ..)

    Any other suggestions ?

    Cliff

    How about

Farmers Folly - If I'm remembering correctly, North Arm Cove, while beautiful was not particularly good farming soil for settlers.

Bolters Retreat - after the escaped convicts (who were known as bolters), that ran away to Port Stephens in the late 1700's.

"Not Bob's Farm" (although this is a nice farmstay location).

lol lots of serious responses as always :D

I think stick with The Cove. Thats how you refer to it you'd want others to know it by name and get a reputation perhaps. Plus have "north arm cove" be linked with your pad

From the ones you listed i vote for
    The cove
    serenity
    sea change

A name that plays to its strong points - nature and amenity etc.... but not cheesy

    Slice of heaven@portstephens

That encapsulates the sunset, views, dolphins , blue waters etc etc and you can find this slice of heaven at Port Stephens. SOH also has a certain pricey calibre undertone to match your prices :)

    Otherwise
    Waters Edge
    The Waterfront
    Seafront Views
    Waterfront Villa/Manor

I personally wouldn't go with the animals as it doesn't say to me it is on the waters edge.

Slice of heaven is nice and has joined the short list . Playing with others . Waters edge is nice but doesn't convey any other image .

Wouldn't go with slice of life . That was the name of the boat Dexter used to dump all his victims out at sea ...

Convoluted , but slice of heaven on the water edge , could be the headline in the adds , with slice of heaven being the Internet address

Would leave the dolphins and turtles out of the name.
May raise guest expectations and lead to disappointment if none appear.

Queens Landing ... ? but that almost implies something north of the border around here , while as we know , kings landing is in the south ... and at the moment being in north is a risky place to be ...

We have had that thought , but will have plenty of pictures taken from the back yard to show they exist .

We've done the dolphin cruise up here and seen none , then gone home and have a pod cruise past ....

Dolphin Cove is good. When I see the name I picture dolphins and a serene cove. You need to make sure the name is attractive to women, as they are the main decision maker when it comes to family holiday.

A mate of mine runs a similar idea to what you're thinking. He calls it Sterling house.

The "house" suffix on the end gives it a stately vibe...might give you some ideas..

Apart from that, anything that screams out waterfront should be a good name.
