If the various charts and logic presented here don't work, this is what I would also do (with variation). Take the 25% profit you have made and stick it where she suggests. Presumably something very conservative.

If she is wrong you still have a locked in 25% profit, 100% of your original investment and 75% of the future compound growth.

Plus you can enjoy years of feeling smug.

If she is right and there is a big correction you have a big chunk of money ready to reinvest.

If she is the nervy type, you are far better off taking profits now than have her really panic in a big correction (and there will be one eventually) and insist you sell everything as the market plunges to 'cut your losses'.

The other alternative (if you can) is to chuck as much as possible into super so you can't touch it.

Update, we sold all parcels in SOL and FMG, rolling into WES (her choice), keeping all ETFs (90% of portfolio) as is. Thanks for feedback.

I reckon both parties have got what they wanted either in whole or in part.

    I'd count that as a Win:Win.

"Win Win"- in most cases of mediation in Law both parties go away feeling that they have been dudded But then I am a terrible old cynic However i have to state that I did enjoy 50 years of a v happy marriage& into the sma spouse- just for the record ha ha ) Hope it goes well in any case D3.. Might be a bit more juice in iron ore yet but no harm in taking a what was prob a spectacular profit in FGM off the table. May the Bourse be with you.
