I worked at Bunnings for many years and am well and truly cured of my sausage sanga addiction! :D

Regardless of how long ago the last BBQ was held.

It's the holidays, so let's go to Bunnings, buy heaps of tools which will be used only once and stuff up our DIY project. Sheese.

House sitting for a friend and a hose fitting perished and decided to give it all away at 2:30 am along with lots of water. The noise of the rushing water woke me up. Got to Bunnos as soon as I could this morning and it was very crowded. Took close to 30 minute to get through the checkout.

Wonder if anyone has discovered after spending a small fortune there it would have been less expensive and resulted in a better outcome if a qualified tradie was used.

I had thought it was the sausage sandwich sellers who set their own prices.

Yeah, me too. $3.50 is still reasonable.

40% increase. Now that's inflation for ya.

Haven't been to Bunnings or had one of the sausages for yonks. First, if I did do go to Bunnings, I'd come out with a DeWalt 5 piece tool set when in reality I only went there to get a packet of 12g screws and, second, I won't have a sanger in protest they won't put the onions on top.

In many cases yeah. I usually draw the line when there’s something I can do myself but requires a specialized tool I will never find the use for again. I’m about to spend $1k on a plunge / track saw for one tiny cut but I can see myself using it again in the future.

Apparently there hasn't been an increase for 15 years. So 40% in 15 years isn't too much inflation - I calculate that at 2.5% pa compounded.

Sanger Sizzlers have been misled by Bunnings. "I've budgeted for many years on sangers at $2.50 per snag," said one member, "it's outrageous to have kept it artificially low for so long then expect us to find an additional $1.00 just like that. I've six kids and a dog to feed. How am I supposed to make ends meet? Shame, Bunnings, shame. The Guvmunt gotta do something."

I usually buy the tool then find a job that it suits so that I have it when needed

Eg: volt meter, moisture detector, security bits, 4/6/8 Nm torque wrench set, hole saws, builders square, chalk line, angle grinder, saw horses, circular saw, wire brushes/stone set for the drill, T-bevel, combination square.....

I just heard the story on the news and the said 'most of the proceeds go to the local community'. Does this mean Bunnings takes a cut?

Or it could be that some of the proceeds are "eaten up" by the cost of sausages, bread etc - and for the public liability insurance. I don't know however if Bunnings charge for using their facilities - which are supplied by them.
