But it had "elephant" strings on it! Needed changing anyway so I went for 10-46's which suit my hand. The Gibson '57 humbuckers sound really good.

This arrived yesterday. It shouldn't upset the neighbours too much but it won't be for lack of trying.

Praise be the mighty Apollo. Plug in the LP and increase the amp volume to 4 or 5 it's so darn good. Hit the overdrive/distortion stomp box and Phew! 5 watts of really loud. Not game enough yet to crank the amp to 12.

This is what happens when there is no one to stop you. Approximately 100 coffees or possibly a few units of VAS foregone.

    Woe is me.

Ok can someone explain to me.....

I went to Yamaha's Aussie page:
    Home - Yamaha - Music - Australia

At the bottom of the page:
Motorbikes - ok I get that - basis of all joke relating to "All Yamahas sound the same"
Line 6 I didn't know, but not surprised.
But Vox??? Vox is part of Korg right? Or is there more to the story....

Here's a guy you can see at your local club or pub.
No edits, speeding up or 100 takes for each little section.

Well they sound better than the guitars or amps!

Yamaha acquired Line 6 a few years ago mainly it seems for the PA product line. Yamaha did have a controlling shareholding in Korg but I believe Korg bought that back about 10 years ago. May still be in partnership of some sort with Korg and supplying them with parts and the like.

Ok so our 30+ year old Yammy PSR-500 just died.... I run a Casio CTK-7000 at church, and I hated the string and piano sounds so vowed never to get a Casio again.... yet here I am looking very seriously at the Casio CT-X5000.... the PSR-E463 is the nearest competitor in the price bracket from the Yammy stable but heaps less features (granted $300 cheaper!!).... (the PSR-SX600 has gone to ridiculous prices) or the Korg EK-50.... which doesn't seem to have as many features either....

    Well I ended up forking out $599 for a CT-X3000 yesterday :D:D:D

Couldn't justify the extra $200 for the buttons on the X5000.

The new AiX engine sound is awesome compared to the old AHL - especially in the piano. The strings are still a bit harsh IMHO but at least the eq can be played with. The woodwind/guitars are pretty crappy, but overall the unit sound less harsh (I had to eq the high ends out and boost the low on the CTK-7000).

    Ouch, that hurt.

Cranked the 5 watt amp to three-quarter volume and the guitar right up. 115 dB.

And for @See Change here is one for you. Enjoy.

I'm not going to actually post the clip as some may find the lyrics highly offensive but for those interested search for Lucille Bogan. Some of her recordings around the 1930's are

    Til the Cows Come Home;

    Shave 'Em Dry.

Given the time you do wonder how she got away with the recordings. Even today it would be doubtful if similar recordings would be released.
