    Hey guys

    Who's into it?

I only started a few months ago - I had no idea how much fun it was!!!!

Started off with a hand me down bike from a friend (old Trek Liquid dual suspension) - now I'm in the market for a decent trail bike.

Anyways - would love to hear who's hitting the tracks and where/what they're riding.

    Cheers

    Jamie

@Simon Hampel @inertia are pretty avid riders. There will be others. Personally have done it once or twice, but not very skilled. Can ride one for 48hrs though!

But you were going round in circles, does that count? No mountain involved (not like Everesting).

For me the most important thing to do was to look at the track and not look at the trees and other obstacles....

Stromlo, bruce ridge - where ever I get time for. (More cycle touring these days as it's easier with kids).

I need to get back on my bike. Once i can remove the kids seat on the back

Haven't done any peddling for years but i reckon there's more traffic on the oaks fire trail now, then there was 5 years ago

    I would hope not!

I guess, because we're talking bikes, you haven't done any pedalling either ;-)

In some of the MTB groups I follow on FB there are people regularly heading up to the Oaks.

I've only ridden it once - looking forward to giving it a go again some time, really enjoyed it before and I think it will be a lot more fun now that I've lost a heap of weight - will be much easier!

I may even try the hardcore way of starting at the bottom, riding up and then riding back down again. Last time, I parked at the bottom, caught the train to the top and then rode down.

All good - I still frequent the south. I like to think that I have two homes now :)

I'll be bringing my bike back next time

    Cheers

Its a good ride but the last few hundred metres are a killer getting off the tar up the hills!

if youre super keen you can go from katoomba all the way down! :) did that when i was a kid... we started at katoomba taking our bikes down 1000 steps into the valley! still scratch my head why we thought that was a good idea:rolleyes:

That looks like the last section, the main track is a wider fire trail, that vid looks like going via red hands cave. looks like more fun than dodging cars on the dirt acces track:cool:

Its becoming one of my 3 main excercise options (surfing being first and running and riding a distant second/third alternating) we have some good single track and fire trails near my place that I ignored for years, silly me.

    There was this from Pinkboy.....

    Guinness World Record

On Saturday, I achieved setting a new Guinness World Record in Most Metres Ascended in 12hrs on a Bicycle. This basically required me to ride a course repeatedly to gain vertical elevation in metres. I specifically chose a small but steep hill to ride the repeats on. The course was less than 500m long, which had a vertical gain of 60.6m per lap (approx 13% gradient).
