That philosophy changed mine and my partner's life. It cuts out all the BS and excuses and makes you completely accountable and responsible for your own success.

Yes, slight edge is a great book. Shows the importance of incremental steps towards a goal. Have a MP3 of this - is great when exercising etc (or whatever takes you fancy)

    For sure! :)

In light of some of the overly negative posts on PC these days i thought this clip is a good one for the newbies and a reminder to stay clear of people who are overly negative and full of poison. They will steal all your dreams bit by bit, day by day until you are as bankrupt and empty as they are.

Some scientific articles providing balance to optimism as peddled by binary zealots, and motivational speakers. :

The Psychology of Optimism and Pessimism: Theories and Research Findings
    Can Positive Thinking Be Negative?
    The Downside of Optimism
Why Being Positive Isn’t Always The Best Route To Take
    5 Pitfalls of Positive Thinking
The Problem with Positive Thinking | Chico Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy
    https://www.amazon.com/Bright-Sided-Positive-Thinking-Undermining-America/dp/B0054U577C

    The above articles:
    • Debunk the mythical correlation between success and optimism.
    • Describe optimism as not necessarily opposable to pessimism although it is frequently understood as such.
    • Associate illusions of performance exhibited by optimistic personalities to narcissism rather than mental health.
    • Highlight harmful effects of optimistic biases in risk perception and mitigation.
    • Demonstrate that coerced optimism on incompatible personalities can backfire and lead to diminished performance.
    • Show that disregarding negative emotions leads to lying to ourselves.
    • Characterize optimism as encouraging magical thinking divorced from reality. Overoptimism cranks up other cognitive biases.
    • Show how excessive optimism create the illusion of control.
    • Highlight how artificial optimism imposes unnecessary responsibility of controlling thoughts, feelings and behavior. "Now we have an additional emotion to deal with, on top of what was troubling us in the first place: the guilt for being unable to convince ourselves to be optimistic about our situation! Instead of accepting our fears, worries, anger, etc. at the first instance and deal with the problem head-on, we waste our time and energy by feeling upset with ourselves over perfectly normal emotions."
    • Describe overoptimism as interference with psychological immune system.
It is a tough choice :
    • Years of methodically collated data with peer reviewed inferences and studies published by eminent researchers.
    • Shrill seminars/marketing pitches delivered in overcrowded conference halls costing $ X99.9 and snippets available on youtube.
