Mortgages + Loan amount

    Any one know.
    If I borrow money that is secured by a mortgage against a property is the loan amount public knowledge i.e is the amount I borrowed shown anywhere on records available to anyone other than the lender ?

    No.

    but it is publically searchable? maybe. Title search will show a mortgage. A search can then be done on the mortgage documents which will probably show the amount borrowed - initially.
