If this has been in the works for a while, would partly explain zoning changes that have occurred. I am sure council would have considered the need for housing suitable for student populations along the rail corridor when reworking the zoning.

Here you go. There will always be different opinions. And it is still not certain yet.

But it is great info. I will definitely keep all location options including this one on the table, when I get other things ready and start to buy next year.

I have just gone unconditional on a property in the area and part of my rationale is the planned university at the Petrie which would be <2km away from the IP i have purchased.

I am aware that there is some negativity with some locals about the university and would be interested in some local opinions on why this may be the case and whether they feel the university will proceed to be built.

I was of the understanding that Carseldine uni, only four train stops away closed down from lack of use, sat empty for years and now is main roads department. Why will Petrie not go down the same path?

    Wow, an actual timetable.
I thought you meant like a timeline for progress. That's pretty advanced then.

I'm assuming not, but there will be an option. Like Beenleigh?

From my recollection 15 years ago when our oldest son was preparing for Uni, the campus at Carseldine only offered one or two courses, like Caboolture does. 15 years ago Brisbane didn't have the bus routes like you have today, and North Lakes and Murrumba Downs were still only drawings on paper. Carseldine is off the beaten track. The train station may not have existed then either, it is new.

Had to have a google for info but I remember nearly running over the students as they ran across beams road and I am not 50 yet. Apparently uni opened in 1977, and train station in 1986. The chancellor stated that students have a particular preference for in or near city. but they won't be selling in case there was student demand increasing in the future. Closed in 2008. Attendance had dropped to 2000 in 2008 from 2700 in 2004.
We have 2 houses at Kallangur so don't mind if it goes ahead but only if it is going to be utilized.

Never fear though our mayor will find a use for it, Sutherland University, Sutherland Canal Estate, Sutherland Botanical Gardens etc.etc.
