Can you tell more details on what your plans are? I was thinking about a similar thing but was considering a 10 foot shipping container as an external bathroom, do a cheap fit out, toilet and shower and vanity etc . Depends if want an external bathroom. Could be cheap, I paid this week $550 for a 20 foot container (for storage not for sleeping or bathroom).

I've seen them advertised as putting them inside a house where there is the space, but I was curious about whacking one on the outside of a house. Doesn't seem to be much window action going on there.

Check out the auctions for old site sheds and toilet blocks. Poetically cheper and you can easily make your own mods. Coates hire etc flog them off from time to time

Would you just butt it up against the main house and neaten off the entry?

I'm thinking of it for a house that has a cutout between 2 bedrooms, both have 2 windows so could afford to lose 1 of them each:

    WA is for sale!

Check out gladstone, it's also for sale ;) but they do have big auctions selling off heaps of stuff. they had one about a month ago.
Otherwise graysonline or try calling Coates and see what they do with them

I think Muji is doing Modular homes now, and IKEA will be making moveable walls. I don't know whether they will be available in Australia though.

I think the moveable walls are a great idea.

    That's right.
It will be like lego, or just plug together modules.

The modular homes seem almost too open concept though. Doesn't seem to have a lot of privacy. I guess that's where those IKEA walls might come in handy

And not a whole lot of window action going on there too. I wonder if you're able to cut a window out.

I have a similar feeling when discussing a sliding door as a slider in there.

Check out pickles auctions in Sydney, they sell lots of ex hire gear there.
