    People,

For the 2 bedrooms old red brick house that is 50 years old.

I'd like to know if I wanted to modify the house internally into 3 bedrooms or making it as 2 bedrooms + 1 study room requires council approval?

The internal wall is brick veneer and I wanted to knock some of the walls to make it open plan and install gypsum board to make it easier.

nothing from the outside is any difference.

    Thank you in advance.

The internal wall is brick veneer?

    Do you mean solid brick?

    You could either
    a) Nike- just do it
    or
    b) call the particular councils planning division and find out for sure- follow up with an email so you get it in writing in case it comes back to bite you in future

I know here in Perth if you make any structural changes then you need a building permit, ie council approval and walls are structural.

All of the above ... and if you can turn 2 beds into 3 for a reasonable price (and it suits the demographic of the area) ... Go.

    Yes, that does make sense.
Thanks, guys I will try to contact the council to get some information written in the email.

No need for a solicitor to do it for me.
