I would agree with this. I would recommend 2x 750 or so in different areas in Brisbane for the risk mitigation, noting that you would want likely similar areas (which there are south, East West etc) as to what mitchelton is to the north.

Do some research - the likes of chapel Hill/kenmore on west, the Carinas on East. The annerley /Moorooka on south..

The Brook Hotel - I think it was in the local newspaper earlier in the year or even something from the Local Member for Parliament. See the development map posted on the previous page.

Dan Murphy, Tavern & Hotel – Brookside Shopping Centre, Mitchelton

Application was lodged Sep last year for redevelopment. Only 4 storeys.

Looks like Mitchelton is gentrifying quickly. Locals, yay or nay?

Really like Mitchelton from a location/infrastructure/lifestyle standpoint but there's a few things that hold it back for me these include:

    High School (terrible rep)
Some streets are terrible rat runs
A lot of 'interesting' characters still around the area

Sizzler is an Australia wide issue , and also changing dining trends in Australia

as for that matter the Myer closures ( across Australia )

looking at a flood map will be of some help but some drainage patterns have changed since the 'Goodna floods ' was it in 2011 ??

neighbouring Everton Park is going more up-market ( stuffed it i can work out why )

i hope your purchase is going well

    Hi Twisted,

Sorry those posts were from a few years back in 2017. Yes so far so good. Great tenants from nearby barrack.

The suburb is gentrifying quickly since I bought in (Osborne Rd). Lots of new apartments going up, new child care centre and now redevelopment of the Brook Hotel just opposite my IP.

Yeah I heard Everton Park is favorable too. Foodie centre.

More upside to come in this area

not just the high school ( when i grew up , nearby ) but the whole general area , but it is the Western Surburbs and used to be close to the fringe of the city ( i imagine not that much different from similar suburbs in Sydney and Melbourne at the time )

yesteryears poverty traps , are the new middle class suburbs , or so it seems

yes but has that traffic improved , traffic was always a problem out there , that will be a major limiting factor IMO

i don't live in that area anymore but the family home has a tenant instead , i worry it will be a jungle of units sooner rather than later ( overstretching infrastructure )

i am a bit too old now to jog to the city faster than the express bus ( but that was peak hour back then .. a fast bicycle ridiculed public transport peak hour ( even the standard train service in peak hour )

Thanks for reviving this thread. I bought my first IP in 2017.

Recently one of my friend mentioned Mitchelton in the next few years be having lots of apartments and retirement senior living accom. Mitchie in general is a quality suburb closer to city, wouldn't be surprised with a median closer to 850-900K by end 2022.

Yes a lot is happening there and nearby Everton Park. New apartments went up on Osborne Rd, now redevelopment of the hotel. Will be great if the shopping centre is upgrading as well since population of the suburb is rising.
