    Fair enough. I'll be saying "I told you so" sooner or later. Just wait and see. LOL

    APs/IWC and JLCs are in the safety deposit box at the moment. I'll be doing a rotation of watches soon but as you know you cant leave any watches at home for insurance reasons as I dont have appropriate safe installed. Pain in the ass but it is what it is.

    Oh yeah - just so everyone knows thats looking to buy a Rolex.

    MSRP Price increase today (1st Jan 2022) for Rolex across the world. Just checked the AU pricing and yeah price increases all around. I think between 2.5% - 5% increases depending on model.

    Not that it really matters. Grey dealers will just jack up the prices by the same amount.

    Thx
    I researched this and found the most cost effective cover was GIO for my jewelry. Must provide valuation for each item. Others were over the top $$$$$

    A good safe fire-rated 2-4 hour x government safe at the government auctions ect never sells for above 500 bucks unless they are set in a 4-6 bank of safes all coded different but they are over 1000kilos once you chem set that to the floor it will stay there..
    Insurance also is not that costly ,just have a 4 photo set of all codes on the back face ect --as value can change on watches very quickly as you would know..

    I'm keen to purchase a Patek Philippe watch one day even though some of the prices are good enough to give me a heart attack. Still, I think it's easier to purchase a luxury watch than trying to purchase a Hermes birkin bag.

    I think it's easier to buy an ip than buying certain watches.

    Love the watch thread! I just read it from start to finish. Even though we all have phones I appreciate the engineering and history of watch making. I don't wear them all the time so I was looking to acquire one of the better quartz movements so I don't have to reset it all the time. Looking to spend $4-8K, I like the Longines, Grand Seiko and Raymond Weil look. Are there any better makers I should have a look at.

    I think for those price brackets you could not ignore the following brands.

    * Tudor
    * IWC
    * Omega
    * Breitling

    Other than Grand Seiko which you already mentioned the 4 above will keep more value and also have a long history. I personally love IWC.

    Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I haven’t checked IWC but I’ve just settled in for a few drinks after some gardening in the heat so the credit card might get a work out tonight :D

    Well I tried, hit beverage number 6 and just found the Tudor's a bit vanilla. Breitling, IWC and Omega are pretty much all automatic movement. I think I need to continue the search with fresh eyes. The zero's are starting to move
