What did you do at midnight??

    I was fast asleep,

I have to work friday as per normal,

plus even if I wasnt every venue would be booked out for weeks,

so i might visit friends this weekend but as for eating/drinking out, probably wont be for a few more weeks!

I am not breaking lockdown protocols until these infection numbers go down!

to be honest, im completely confused,

im conflicted on , not sure if since we are 80% and double vacced, case numbers actually matter, coupled with the fact that case numbers are at all time high, add to that the media (obviously) are only focusing on this reopening
I see arguments for both sides.

also im tired thinking about it, I will just proceed conservatively

edit: so assuming that there is no new variant that the current vaccine cant handle, we will never go back down into lockdown again, (this is the vibe im getting), so regardless if case numbers get to 10,000 per day, as that would be completely contradict the governments reason for lockdowns and vax rates

Cases still matter for as long as we haven't yet reached an effective level of herd immunity (through vaccination and/or infection). Case numbers remain a leading indicator of hospitalisation and death.

... my advice is to be cautious while enjoying your new freedoms.

Victoria's vaccine rates are improving quickly - but we're still more than a month away from seeing 90% of people aged 12+ in the state fully vaccinated.

Given how much COVID is spreading amongst unvaccinated children in other countries - I'd remain a bit cautious until we can get 90% of the 5-11yo's vaccinated as well.

    I think that's a good approach.

ive said this before, caution is good for the greater good however
from a selfish persepective, masks are required except when eating at venues
I dont see any point in being cautious if were going to be out and about and with masks on, im vaxed, we're heading towards higher vax rates. Being cautious I cant see is of any benefit to me

Since NSW regional came out of lockdown I have had one on one lunches with four different friends in socially distanced open air cafes - but am avoiding shopping centres like the plague and am desperate to have my home jobbie Camilla haircut returned to it's normal Annie Lennox (although it can wait).

    Priorities - moving forward cautiously

I think "being cautious" is more about avoiding risky activities such as having large gatherings of people in your home.

Being outside is relatively low risk.

Being indoors in a retail or hospitality setting is higher risk - but that risk can generally be managed.

The risk in worksplace settings varies based on the environment you work in.

Intimate indoor gatherings in your home is highest risk IMO.

definitely ive learnt that the indoor gatherings pose a higher risk than being indoors during this pandemic

Went to pick up some take away early dinner, restaurant tables distanced appropriately, restauanrt semi busy

Felt really odd and uncomfortable seeing people sitting down and eating .
    Maybe it's just my mindset

Plenty of people throwing caution to the wind on the news (so much of it).
Am glad to have my parents visiting Sydney.
Victoria's numbers will be interesting in the next week or two !
