Everything has gone up. Cheap credit will do that.

Maybe the buyers of those Melbourne apartments are all just Sydneysiders.
Yep, they aren't expensive/downright affordable when you compare them to what you'd pay in Sydney. I'd say the one that went for 970k would be about 1.5mill in Sydney.

Thank god, some good news for once. I own one in the Melbourne CBD so it's good to finally hear something positive. Bad buy but lesson learned. Fortunately it's in a beautiful 100 year old building, mainly OO's and less than 80 apartments in the building. Huge proportions. Beautiful apartment but geez what was I thinking lol. I console myself by saying at least I didn't buy in one of those 1000 apartment behemoths in Docklands or Southbank...could have done worse.

Also that one at 394 Collins is junk. The rest are nice but jeez I wouldn't have paid 600k for that shoe box.

Na Melbourne inner city apartments have been hammered hard. They are cheap compared to Sydney but as someone who used to check the market daily I agree with the OP - those prices are much higher than they have been for the last 2-3 years.

It sure is. But it's deceptive and there's a good reason for that - the over supply is staggering. If it looks too good to be true...

Nope the Sydney investors are in QLD, low base areas.

You will find in Melb market in general is strong - FHB, investors, overseas investors buying up.
