    Hi guys,

New to the page having just signed up. I am also new to Melbourne having arrived 7 weeks ago for a new job. Have come from the hunter valley (lovedale) off a rural
    property.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the above suburb comparison for a property to be our home and investment. Which suburb may be better for a young family (2 kids under 4).

Whilst I appreciate Melbourne is a busy urban environment I am just trying to workout which place may offer a bit more space, parkland and family activities between the 2 etc. I work 80% of the time in Moorabbin so traffic/travel time is a factor.

Many many thanks for any feedback. The traffic has been a bit of a shock but no doubt I will get used to it in time.

    Budget around 600k- 700k mark.

IMO if I was in your position I would be looking at Frankston.
Frankston has changed dramatically the last decade - even the last 5 years!
Residents are taking greater pride in the area, shopping centers are receiving upgrades and beaches are generally cleaner. There is quite a bit of infrastructure investment activity by local councils and the state government - the new train station is a prime example.

See this thread for more info:

Living in the area I am biased towards Frankston and it’s surrounds.
I would think Travel to Moorabbin would be heaps easier than from Boronia also

Thank you all. Would I be correct in saying the standard blocks in boronia are bigger?
One other point and no disrepect to anyone living in new housing estates - I am seeking an older bigger block setting as opposed to a newer shinier estate type house.

Frankston for sure, there have been steady changes in the area in the recent past and close to all amenities.

Boronia blocks are bigger and you will struggle to find a decent house on one of these blocks as most blocks are over 700 sq and 600-700k in pretty much a land only price unless main rd, next to railway tracks etc.

Can't speak for Boronia, but your better off on the Frankston line if working in Moorabbin. Seaford (beach side of fwy) seems to be cooling from last year's peak and has great village/ suburban feel compared to Central fston..check out below recently sold, subdividable block and amenities on doorstep.

    Hi Sauber,
I'm looking to buy my first IP in Frankston. In all likelihood, in my budget ($400-450K) the best I can afford would be a Unit. Are there any areas that would be better than the others within Frankston? I'm not looking for a quick flip and plan to hold long-term. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    VG

My understanding is the golden triangle is between frankston flinders rd (where monash bunnings etc is), hastings road, and cranbourne road.

My budget is low 400s so from my research it does seem to be that a 2 bedder is within reach. Having said that, I've noticed a revision in the price range in Frankston which means that there aren't as many favourable offers at the moment.
