Meeting with Planning Dept, City of Melville

Hi All
Wish me luck

I now have my preliminary plans for my 3 villa development and have a meeting today to discuss these with Council

I have been advised by another developer who has gone down this road a number of times, to get council on my side and good idea to meet them

I have processed/completed a previous project with City of Melville. They were very good, but some time ago Now

Apparently this Council dont like double garages on front villas, they want the front garage tucked Behind the villa.... bummer

Good luck, MTR. R u going to meet alone or taking your designer with you so that any issues can be discussed there itself ? I suspect that if i will be going for meeting by myself, i will not be able to respond to any design issues raised by council planner.

Good luck MTR, let us know how it all goes and what lessons you learned from the experience.

Stirling told us to change our garage from the front to the rear as cars would have had to reversed onto a slightly busy road. I prefer when garages face the road. But safety comes first.

I met with CoM councillors pre-election last year and found them very personable, open and transparent. Hopefully the newly elected members are also the same.

 

How did it go?

 

It went well, I never raised the double garage at the front and it did not appear to be an issue

Meeting my designer next week to fine tune the plans

I raised my concerns with designer regarding City of Melville and council perhaps now allowing two driveways. He contacted council Again, seems we wont have a problem.

He did explain that new zoning regulations I think may be coming in next year, will be a massive game changer for developers. His involved in this committee

More open space will be required, we may see these 3 bedder villas on these sites turning into two bedders in the future.??
More reason I want to get this site approved and build next year
