"Me Time"....... What do you do?

    definition:
time spent relaxing on one's own as opposed to working or doing things for others, seen as an opportunity to reduce stress or restore energy.

Shoot hoops, listen to podcasts, read, excercise, meditate (new one for me - used to think it was all a bit wanky but it's very helpful)

    Cheers

    I nap. Favourite pastime.

Reading and going to zumba also rate, but not quite as highly :p

Lifestyle block.... play "real" vinyl, ride the trail bikes, relax in the hammock & have a couple drinkies whilst cooking BBQ dinner.... then wake to a paddock full of kangaroos whilst having a nice hot cuppa on the porch.... rinse & repeat whenever needed :)

Never seem to have any! The second I sit on the sofa and contemplate an hour's peace and quiet with a book I get restless and remember that this needs doing, or that needs fixing. By the time I've gone and done the chores I feel guilty about ignoring by sitting in the sofa there's no Me Time left in the day!

Bit of an exaggeration, I do like my cycling/mountain biking but that's already factored in as a necessary sanity check.

The last twice Em & I actually managed to arrange a Sunday evening relax the following happened.....

4 Sundays ago, we strolled to the video shop in the rain, took 3 movies out, made some nice dinner, got the wine ready and looked forward to a relaxing "Us Time", just after the opening credits of the first movie the 3 year old TV blew rendering it useless.

Yesterday, finished all my chores, saw the visitors off, rented a couple of movies through FetchTV, got my work gear ready for this morning, had my shower, prepared dinner, sat down, turned on the (recently repaired) TV and lost power with the wind storms before I had time to press play on the movie!

On the up side, no TV has meant getting a start on the book mountain that has piled up over the last few years...

Going for a walk with a podcast in my ears. Love it. I'm trying to make time to do it every day. Reading a book - mostly non-fiction but every now and then something fluffy and disposable.
I've also just joined a gym - gets me out of the house on my own so definitely counts as me time.

I like audiobooks, in the car or walking. I don't have many podcasts I still listen to.

Recent audiobooks are available for loan from the local library; books which are out of copyright are available from librivox.org - there's a huge range of them, though a book in the public domain must be at least 50 years old or something.

I like to train for, and run, marathons. Currently run about 80km per week. Need to ramp that up to 100km per week and beyond.

I'm listening to a few at the moment - the Tony Robbins one, an Andy Stanley one called Visioneering, and the Ziglar show.

Oh I have great plans... Then I hear "daddy, where are you going?".

My "me" time can wait a little longer. :)
