I have always used my points towards a great night out with my husband (eg dinner / a weekend away). Much easier than trying to plan a flight that meets your time frame and setting allocation expectations.

ive already got a card that I pay $250 annual fee for it, (I dont have a loan with them)

and it simply makes no sense to me to sign up for one that has an annual fee unless you plan to cancel it before the fee.

However at lets say 140k economy and 280k business for rtw or Aus to europe/usa flights, it does seem like a lot, but I guess if you do spend 5k per month for example, you could get a return flight economy in just over 2 years. Has been working well for me
