    Hi quick question re materials

I have trialled a new plumber, cost $90 per hour incl Got. My other plumber is $60 or so per hour.

Roughed in 3 points - Shower - changed to mixer, 1 vanities changed to mixers.

I have been charged $270 for materials. I note the plumber would mark up the materials up but I wouldn't have thought it cost that much.

    Any thoughts?

Did you actually get 3 new mixers or just the copper piping and new breeches? And what quality of fittings - Bunnings or European made?

Materials are very expensive depending on the plumbing system used.
Some fittings I.e a simple copper bend could be upwards of $10, it adds up

Was that some kind of work for the dole scheme? Seems way to cheap for a tradesman on non fixed hours.

just curious, do they have trade qualifications ?
how does a tradesman operate at $45ph
he would be better off working on a wage.
or is this a cash price, no questions asked.

No I am just asking about the reasonableness of $250 for materials for roughing in plumbing.

Happy with his work did it on time and I have paid the plumber just asking about the above part.

What did he do? Copper/plastic? Fabricate a copper pipe distribution pinned into the wall? A few tees, threded spigots for tapware/shower/bath spout?

You would have to wonder why you would do it.
$45 x 8 hours x 5 days X 48 weeks = $86400 Gross before all costs. Probably a 10 hour plus day once travel and time spent at trade shop buying parts. Also needs to do office work for the business etc
Even at $60 hr it's a work for the dole scheme. $90 hr starts to seem more reasonable but ymmv
