Of course not, hence the ;)

I just had to say it because certain groups love to call out other groups for being "racist" if they make comments deemed to be anti Islam.

    its clickbait

If you actually read the rest of the article it goes on to say he wants to keep the land as equestrian rather than it be redeveloped, so wants a buyer who'll observe his wishes.

Just so happens the buyer was of a certain persuasion, but don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

    Even though he said
(From the article quoted in the first post).

He may also have wanted it to stay an equestrian centre- there were two reasons mentioned in the article.

The comments can't be racist because Muslims aren't a race.

However, the comments are bigoted and prejudiced.

I agree. When I said it was racist I was joking because people say it all the time. Islam is not a race.

That whole Muslims/whoever aren't a race is a nonsense comment anyway, the missing out on bring a racist on a technicality and having to make do with just a podium finish in the bigot Olympics is hardly hugely different.

I don't see the majority of people referencing burkas when they are usually talking about niqabs being corrected with as much vigour

This is far more common than we think. Especially in overseas markets, this happens all the time. I've seen **** like ' I won't sell my house to a Chinese because they will eat thr neighbours cat/dog', 'I won't sell/rent to Muslim because they will pray at 5am amd cause inconvenience ', etc etc...in Australia this makes the news...not in various countries overseas where it's far more common.

I find it interesting that people immediately label anti-Muslim comments as "racist". I wonder if it is because Muslims in Australia are predominantly from other countries therefore people identify them as "other race" and therefore any comments against them must be racist?

I find that interesting because they don't automatically label other prejudiced comments as "racism". When people make comments against Christians, those same people don't cry "racism". I think it is because we understand Christianity and accept it as a religion but don't really understand Islam or really accept it as a religion.

It's important because when we label anti-Muslim comments as "racism" we delegitimise Islam as a religion. I think it is important we don't do this.

There is a good article that parallels the struggles that different groups of immigrants have faced to be accepted within Australia.

The anti-Muslim sentiment is sadly familiar for many Australian Jews - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

The seller should hope interest rates don't go up the next couple of years when he has to sell it for a big discount, and wishes in hindsight that certain decisions might have been different...

I doubt it... the seller made a decision based on their own conscience. Why should they regret that? For money? I don't think so....

Interestingly - we are buying another property, in an estate, that used to be farmland. The selling agent has to legally advise in writing - in case buyers are Muslim - that there may have been pigs walking across the ground at some stage in the distant past.

If ever there was an excuse to purchase through a bare trust and then on settlement day walk in with a niqab...
