I have found a property that I am keen to make an offer on. I called the agent who has said she has already had a lot of interest and is showing people through today.

Should I try and make an offer before seeing it so they can cancel the inspection and I can secure it before anyone else?

How would I go about doing this?

    Offer more than asking price?

Offer what you believe it to be worth.

You can try - but it would have to be a VERY strong offer.

If there's lot of genuine interest then I'd be surprised if they cancelled the open.

    Cheers

Yea that's what I thought. I called the agent but she said she is taking all offers and will present them to the owner. So I guess I will make my best offer.

Make the offer 48hrs before the open and put a 48hr deadline on it.

If its a strong offer, they can risk going to the open and have a bunch of randoms through who might not even like the property.

@Johnny Cashflow me personally I would wait, putting an offer in today they would likely wait for the open house.

Go find something else you are 'interested' in and attend the open of the house you are also interested in so you can see how much 'interest' there was. Then put an offer in on Sunday or Monday and put a deadline to be 24/48 hours as you don't want to miss out on 'that' other house.

The more different the other place is the better, e.g. pick a unit if looking at a house. Makes it harder to compare and give their 'value' back compared to the house next door has 1 more/less bedroom on same size block.

    Good advice.

I checked it out and there was a lot of interest as it is underpriced. It will go over the listed price. I am going to make my best offer
