I was half-reading some story on ideal lotto winnings.

Does anyone on here buy Lotto tickets?

I've never bought a ticket, and probably never will.

Your chances do increase if you do buy a ticket. But not by much.

Yes. I buy one every Saturday night. $8.55 is an "indulgence" I allow myself. Like property, you gotta be in it to win it.

I havent played lotto for maybe 4 years now, but even before this, it would have been a maximum of once per year anyway.

But I did win a redundancy once.. after 6 years of employment at Amex, it was due to the GFC. But they are a company that did restructures on a regular basis anyway. It was quite a generous redundancy payment, and since I got a job again immediately anyway... it was just an awesome windfall.
I had a colleague who had been there over 20 years and she too got a redundancy. She was looking so good and refreshed when she came for a visit after being away for a while... having 2 primary school kids meant she could give her kids lots more time. She realised how much kid related stuff she missed when being in the job.

The sister of a friend of mine won the big one at lotto when she was about 18. But she blew all the money away quite quickly and she ended up financially worse off afterwards.
So you have to be able to manage your money...

Maybe he/she has some red ones at home?

When I was 15, we had a Ferrari in our garage for a few months (belonged to my uncle) - a red 308 GTS quattrovalvole. I worshipped that thing. It was very cool at the time. I'd still like the same model, just for nostalgic purposes.

I can't upload a pic for some reason - added it below.

About $22,000 over 50 years. But hey, if only 1 of those 2,600 entries only wins me half a mill who cares? Even if the odds are millions to one of winning.

I have never bought a lotto ticket. I wouldn't even know how.

However, I am in a syndicate at work. Costs $1 per week. I figure what the hey. I quit buying coffee shop coffee to afford it. I now drink pods. Blerg! :)
