I am looking to convert my alfresco into an additional bedroom. Below is my current structure

The thing to note is where the alfresco ends, there is 3 metre of concrete after that, currently covered by a pergola.

I am wary of the living area that will be reduced, but that zone is currently unusable in winters and has aggregated concrete flooring which is impossible to walk on.
I am looking at suggestion for design, that ideally won't reduce the living/hosting area while providing cover from the cold.

This is a property based in outer wester suburbs of Melbourne.

I cant help with design and engineering. If it was my place, I would install skylight in the hallway/computer desk area for light. Which way is north?
