I had a really poor experience with a Conveyancing company that is named after an animal. Somebody recommended them. I had to chase them up on several things, they were pretty unhelpful and not overly friendly. I even had to call my REA and get him to contact them at one point. Luckily, my REA was awesome and he sorted that problem out pretty quick.

I used my normal conveyancing solicitor in Sydney for conveyancing my Brisbane property... they just had to get a QLD settlement agent as well.

I didn't think Sydney Conveyancer could look after QLD property transactions .. ??

Does anyone know the difference between a Body Corporate roll search v Body Corporate records search ?

I know the Body Corporate records search looks at the financial position, any building defects, disputes, compliance with legislation and management issues.

Yeah, you can, you'd want them to have some experience in QLD settlements though. As I mentioned, they usually get a QLD settlement agent to complete settlement on your behalf. Additionally the loan documents have a different witnessing requirement from memory.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

Most Conveyancers or Solicitors in QLD charge a similar price from my experience. Fiona is great I've had several clients use her with no reported problems.

I've narrowed my choice to Map Lawyers v Rivercity Conveyancing, prices are very similar ... With Map Lawyers if the contract doesn't go unconditional (eg, unsatisafactory B&P) there are no professional fees to pay, you just need to pay for disbursements ... Has anyone used either of these firms?

I used Map Lawyers, Megan was very professional, helpful & I recommend her ... I pulled out of the Contract due to unsatisfactory Building & Pest

Thanks so much for responding! Glad you had a positive experience. Bookmarking their page now. As it failed the B&P - did this mean you didn't have to pay professional fees.

Thanks again for responding as I know it was awhile ago you originally posted this. Greatly appreciated!
