    Abit about myself.

    Live in Adelaide
    28 years old
    Finished high school year 12
Did a Tafe real estate course but didn't want to be a salesperson
Started working at my family's pizza bar at 18
Bought my first house at 19 and rented it for 5 years paying down a lot of debt
    Bought 4 IP sold one
Renovated my first house and now live here
Did a lot of work myself painting ect

Did a Pre Voc electrical course at Tafe which I enjoyed . I'm hoping to gain an apprentship in electrical or refridgeration but so far unsuccessful :( and being 28 soon 29 will be difficult

Basically I'm sick of working nights and pizza isn't the money maker it once was.

I wouldn't mind studying for a 2-3 years and making a career out of something but don't want to end up wasting my time as it's hard finding work in Adelaide as it is. So looking for some ideas from older people who have reinvented themselves at 30

If you've done the real estate course you may already have the first step towards being a property manager (depending on the course and the regulations). Work for one of the Adelaide PMs in the forum!

Maybe think about what you really want to do... and consider that you can move away from Adelaide if you need or want to.

    As a handyman? Sure.
I've met him, he's not tall. He looks like he could wield a bat though. Perhaps he can be my body guard at evictions. Luckily it doesn't come up very often though :p

    What are your interests?
    I second the business idea.
I started a biz from scratch just before my 30th.
Wanted to retire by 40, but couldn't arrange things in time, was financially free well before 40 from the business.
Have learnt and grown so much in the last decade.
The best experience for personal growth and extremely financially rewarding.

Training to be an employee is absolutely crazy, insane, in my opinion from experience.

Perhaps look at something that is not location specific such as doing your Bookkeeping certificate. Then seek referrals from accountants.

Yep.. and worse, if you're good at being an employee you could end up stuck in a high paid job. I know that sounds ridiculous but it is true.

The health and fitness industry is cranking!
You could get a lot of personal satisfaction helping others achieve results and changing their lives.
Can be very financial rewarding to if you just outperform the other pretty average service providers in the industry.

The fitness industry is saturated. Using government funding and reality TV shows, training organisations have churned out tens of thousands of 'personal training' certificate IV's. Most of them barely manage to get a job and very few are even remotely successful. I've got a few clients who are PTs, most earn less than $30k.

The nature in which they're paid also means they're usually self employed, even when working in an gym. They gym owner doesn't have to pay them super, work cover, they do their own book keeping and often they're actually paying the gym owner to be there.

One of our office phone numbers is very similar to that of AIPT. We get a few calls a week for training enquiries, and they're just the ones who can't read a phone number properly. Certainly there are a lot of people paying for personal trainers, but they're already very well catered too.

Any PT with a good handle on social media, hustling for business can make a killing.
Going to work in a gym is for the lazy ones and they get what they deserve.
There is still plenty of money up for grabs in the industry, its only saturated at the low levels where trainers aren't creative enough in building a real business for themselves.

Why don't you buy a pizza shop? Seems like you might have the equity and it seems like a business you understand.
