    Hey there guys,

Looking to purchase my first IP. Have a fair bit of capital behind me and have slowly built up my knowledge to gain a good idea + strategy.

Recently I have met with 2 mortgage brokers, both nice gave me some useful information but I am really looking for a broker with a decent property portfolio who can help me and and also educate me further. Last two I spoke to were very held back when discussing their properties, one would not even discuss it after I asked a few times making believe he didn't have any at all.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a savvy broker in Melbourne who has been of great service to to you?

    Thanks in advance!

Pete Tersteeg is Melbourne based, but otherwise have a read of the forums and see which brokers you connect with - all the forum brokers are happy to work Australia wide and I'm sure would be happy to chat property with you.

Pete's more than able to do the job I'm sure. @Mitesh Dedhia - pretty sure his got runs on the board in portfolio accumulation.

Often its about who you've worked with, rather than what they own. I.e. a broker whose worked with people who've done what you want to do is pretty valuable.

Essentially, you're looking for a broker who would share his financial situation with you.

Figured it was always the other way around :) Your information in exchange for their loan structuring expertise.

What does that achieve other than the fact that's he/she is a property investor. If his/her accumulation started 20 years ago, it'll be very different to how you would do it today.

    Agreed.

You might find an amazing broker who doesn't own any property - it does't mean that they don't understand the fundamentals of IP loan structuring.

Conversely - you might find a broker who has a sizeable portfolio but has only been in the game for a few months.

    Cheers
