Good comparison, I agree. Currently the logan property price has not reached or has just reached the previous peak. So it is too early to turn away. But I agree there may be better opportunities in other areas. It is safer to diversify your portfolio.(of course, do due diligence before jumping into a new market)

Thank you Rico2011 for providing the evidence and experience. Logan has moved, it is not the cheapest area in SEQ, whereas ipswich is. That is because the location is better and the weather is nicer.

Which place are you saying has better weather ?

Ipswich looks like it would be a hot hell hole in summer to me, but I am not sure.

When looking at Logan and Ipswich, it is hard to see why one would choose to live in Ipswich, although it too has choices about where you can go for work.

I've seen Logan, I can't work out why anyone wants to live there either.

I understand that, but the vacancy rate is low, so good demand from tenants.

Logan's closer to the sea. The weather is better.

I see, thought you were saying Ipswich had better weather, either way, it is hardly coastal, does it really get regular sea breezes ?

It's like western Sydney will be hotter and drier than inner west in summer, whereas colder in winter.

    @York Polides

Yes we did - two houses/blocks side by side, in an excellent location in Logan Central.

After searching for a while in Brisbane, it clicked that we only like well located properties, for that reason some of the surrounding areas were not settling well with us.

Glad there was delay in finding the right property for us - it has worked out great, as these ones are about 100 meters from the shops, and a good buy and hold for the long run.

The key to buying in Brisbane is building a rapport with the agents - it is very different to buying in Sydney.

Well thought out purchase! If in future the zoning changes, you will have a big windfall for the development potential. It is not easy to find two houses side by side though. If they are sold by the same owner, the price expectation may be a bit high.

@Sam Yue - yes this may be rezoned, and we have been told by experienced investors in the area that it is not a matter of 'if', but 'when'.

The houses were purchased at different times, from different owners. For the second one we did have to pay a premium - given it was known (by the agent) we own next door.

I must add - MsAli was adamant on buying next door to each other the moment the search began! So she got what she wanted :D

Our Brissy purchases would not have been possible without the guidance of @Beanie Girl ; @Michael_X taking us around, and giving us a rundown of the areas and @Rolf Latham for his help with the financing side and getting the best outcome for us :) - and we are grateful for it all :)

You are right, mate. They are the same, both populous because of the affordability.

Except Ipswich has a better job market and less unemployment and a growth corridor in Springfield that's about 15% completed (from when I was told last) so heaps of jobs to come.. Looking at previous booms though both Ipswich and Logan did similar numbers.. I think some people think that Logan will boom and Ipswich and Moreton Bay won't, but looking at data of the last 20 years, all the cheapies went up similarly and at the same time in Brisbane and its surrounds.. I just think Logan's moved first cause of the investor hype..The others will follow.
