Has anyone here spent a week or two in a hotel? ....

    It's HORRIBLE!!!

No where to cook, one small pokey room. Fluro lights and noisy guests.

A beachside resort might be different but even then you get bored.... A holiday inn though? Yuk.

    Never seen him so slim.

Must be before he was chomping out on those humongous burgers.

That's fine, if the seniors' home only involved accommodation. Food has been covered in the thread.

At least he's got some class. In a Druey sort of way.

I think if you are currently on an aged pension and leave the country for more than 4 weeks in any 12 month period, the money stops rolling in.

I had a client whose mum went and lived in Thailand for 6 months and was getting the pension.

I think there are some allowances that do drop, but the pension itself keeps going as long as you meet some qualifications such as having lived in Australia for a number of years.

How long ago was this, a neighbour of ours had his pension stopped 3 months ago after 2 weeks overseas because he had exceeded the new 4 or 6 ?? weeks in 12 months rule.
Its not even done per calender or financial year.He has lived in Australia all his life and for the majority of his life never travelled overseas.
But there may be other circumstances that we are unaware of.

AUD $22,000 per year converts to about 40,000 Thai Baht per month. This would be the equivalent to a university graduates income level in Bangkok so enough to live on.

We cruise for average of $100pppd. So $73,000 a year if full time for a couple.

Food, accom, entertainment. Not bad. And we now get free mini bar, laundry and internet.

In the engine room. The trade-off is you have to shovel coal for 12 hours each day.

minibar (depending on how much you drink), laundry and internet could add up to be a decent amount!

the novelty of all inclusvie food, booze, laundry, is very attractive, however surely it must wear out!
