Personally , I think the elbow bump looks dumb and contrived and the pat on the back ...Seriously .

Me , I'm going to go with Mr Spock .

Practicing by Vulcan salute and the phrase ,

    Live long and prosper .

    Seems pretty appropriate.

I liked this suggestion when I first saw it on social media last week.

A "pat on the back" can be very inappropriate in some settings.

The only issue with the Vulcan salute is that not everyone can do it (although with practice they probably could).

Also - I'm a bit rusty on my Trek-lore ... I was under the impression that the salute was more of a farewell than a greeting? Not entirely appropriate to replace a handshake?

    As we're in nerd territory.

The phasing out of the handshake could have far bigger consequences than we realise.

Without handshaking, TCP/IP wouldn't work, and the entire internet would collapse.

Also could be offensive to those of Klingon or Romulan descent.

Correct , but easily repurposed .

Vicki has problems doing it , but all my years of guitar playing make it easy .
