The point about cash in super is important and I didn't think about it - I was only thinking about FIRE. If you are forced to withdraw 4% from super but your dividends are only 3% then you definitely need the cash and the reserves to cover a crash, or be forced to sell at worst possible time.

The joy of LICs and ETFs. Skim over any thread concerning direct shares such as CBA.

Apparently the company has done something today but I don't know what and I don't care.

Now my only stress is over when the bus will come so I can get to the Roman exhibition at the museum.

Was it good work experience aside?

My day was spent oiling a large deck. After that I feel like I should be in a museum myself.

It's only as an Intern. Hopefully I can then get a permanent position as a fossil.

Usually dividends and franking credits should cover the 4 or 5% minimum withdrawal rate + expenses, however lots of people have lower yielding assets in their SMSF (eg. international shares), and Labour could well kill off the franking credits, therefore the need to do your sums.

Those with low yield or mortgaged property in their SMSF should be extra careful for obvious reasons considering the current state of the property market and possible further impact if a crisis happens.

One more detail, some people may find it useful to reconsider their DRPs. DRPs are automatic buy orders using the cash from your dividends but you may want to have full control of that cash at opportune points in time.

    No advice.

Anyone know why LIC nta reporting is so poor? Are they seriously saying that they can't report NTA at any time? Or do they have ulterior motives?

The last NTA reported for most LICs is now about 5 weeks ago. I consider this poor. PMC report weekly.

    Any thoughts?

Possibly it's historical. The well established LICs, created in slower times, have traditionally reported monthly. And transactions were via a full service broker so plod on as you were was the go. Now I feel most want the information NOW along with trading platforms and all the rest.

Ratings and reviews of LICs is only a relatively recent innovation too. Oddly enough they seemed to survived quite OK beforehand.

I'm not personally fussed about it.
