I know this is just short term results, holdings for 2 years, since May 2016.

LIC income is okay and nice to receive dividends. FLT has really grown, dividend is also growing vs purchase price.

    Code Purchase($) Last($) Profit / Loss(%)
    FLT 32.836 63.63 93.78
    MLT 4.32 4.56 5.56
    QVE 1.042 1.14 9.39
    WHF 4.096 4.65 13.52
    Subtotal 34.25

From my 2 year view, buying at dips is way more profitable than LIC. Am I missing something here?

Not buying anything at the moment, just want to sort out my thinking when the next buying opportunity comes up.

    Appreciate comments.

You're really saying it's more profitable buying stocks with rising prices (Otherwise it's not a dip).

I think there might be more to it.

No but it’s not surprising that something like this has happened given Wilson has been building a stake in WDE for awhile. Usual activist tactic. Seems the best way for an investor to to take advantage of this sort of thing is to keep an eye out for announcements about Wilson jumping on board then join in for the discount narrowing ride.

I read someone say that drops of 20%+ like in 2016 tend to come along every 7-9 years.
If that is the case, then if you waited 6 years for a dip and missed out on the profits for those 6 years, it doesn't seem like it would be better to wait for dips. Do you disagree?
Also, what set of criteria do you use to determine it has dipped enough to buy?

In case anyone is interested, just gave a quick call to WHF to check on the discount for upcoming DRP. Confirmed that they expect to announce the usual discount for the DRP of around 2.5%. Happy with that and will participate in full.

Also, been thinking about BKI's offer lately. As of now, my brain says to pass which I'll most likely do (don't have any major holding in BKI anyways).

Not for me to say how or when you should place your money. Totally your decision.

Some hold a reasonably large cash buffer for when things go pear shaped but continue to buy small lots because it suits and for the dividend income.

Depends on your attitude and personality.

Given some of the things that have occurred there they may well do.

    BKI Offer
I hold this but have not seen any communication on the offer other than what I have read here. Should I have been emailed or sent a letter?

The share registry should have mailed out the relevant documents by now. I received them this morning. If you have registered with Advanced Share Registry, you are able to login and download your personalised application form and the prospectus.

I bought a small amount of BKI a couple of months ago for $1.675, which I thought was a good price!! I think I almost have to take up the offer and then some so that my average buy-in price can drop to something more reasonable. They are definitely quite overweight in the big 4 banks and Telstra, which have all been plummeting. I'll have to watch the BKI price and the five aforementioned stocks in the lead-up to June 12 before making a decision.

I'd love to know what "opportunities" they are chasing with the extra cash though. They are very vague about it in their prospectus.
