Same for me guys. Since I'm in accumulation, I'm starting to worry less about the current purchase price and just developing a habit of buying more shares consistently. Today is more WHF for me.

    Yes well said.

This is where at times some of the things I say need to be taken in context. I’m a retiree and don’t have time on my side anywhere near the same degree as a younger accumulator. Hence Cash (risk free assets) takes on a much more important role as does managing risk in general.

Then there’s also the saying “If you’ve won the game, stop playing”. I don’t take it that far but as we age many of us do start to become more prone to protecting what we’ve got rather than continuing to throw the lot into the risk basket when there’s no need for it. Shares were down near 90% in the US during the Great Depression. The recovery was long and slow. If you’ve got time on your side for the recovery it’s not as much of an issue, in fact it’s an opportunity. However if you haven’t then it’s not going to be pretty.

Another great post @pippen. Keeping it simple! Every purchase is increasing that passive income.
I'm also in the accumlation phase, prices are high but I might be sitting on the sidelines for ages if I wait.

Yep prices seem high but they be like this for a couple years and then they could seem low! You just never know! Sometimes I think ignoring the market quote (price) could be the best thing in accumulating. I can't see myself at 50 years of age cursing myself because I bought 5k of bki at $1.75 instead of $1.69 in 2018 instead of 2021!

We just have to stay in the game long enough to reap the rewards of compounding!

Reminds me of this guide: ETFs-v1.1.rtf

Nothing particularly unique in this guide but it ends well:

"Hey, you're doing commerce, right? I want to start investing in shares. What should I buy?"

“Get a savings fund, open a brokerage account, and buy index funds. Every now and again, check to make sure things are still on track. This will make sure you get steady returns over time and you barely have to do anything!”

“That can’t be right, it’s too simple! Can’t you give me something more complicated?”

Yeah, well nuts to your crazy uncle. I give up.

    Record date: 13th Feb
    Dividend: 3.625cps
    No discount for DRP

    Disclaimer: I hold BKI

P.S. I'm sure the novelty factor of LICs declaring dividends will wear off after a while but it is making January kinda feel like a second Christmas.

Can get that way @Martin73 regarding Christmas but when funds hit the account that is never mundane. Expected but not mundane.

Best part for me is this year's dividend totally covers the cost of a previous tranche. Free carry now.

I must admit I usually don’t pay much attention to reporting and dividend payment dates. The email notification of a dividend payment and seeing the amounts on the statement always brings on a smile. So yes a dividend deposit is certainly never mundane particularly when the size of one’s holding grows over time.

And when the deposits aren't attached to any of the known headaches that other asset classes can bring with them.:D

Yes the beauty of LICs. Once purchased nothing to do, money comes in, nothing goes out on expenses etc. With the older LICs the Mgr does all the work for bugger all cost. Bloodly property, at times we felt all we were working for was to maintain the IPs and keep the tenants happy:(.

As @SatayKing once said many years ago: “bliss on a stick”. Well I think that’s what he said:). I recall the other part of the post was about pesky fish interrupting his quite contemplation whilst fishing:confused:. Go figure:D.

Solved that issue by not having a hook on the end of the float. Anyway, if I want fish C4 and a detonator will achieve that. Pity it's illegal.

    What headaches? Please explain.

Shame BKI issued an amendment to the forthcoming DRP. I would have liked $3.625 per share. Bugger.

Edit: DRP? I think you mean dividend, SK. Twit.

Yes I like FGX and own it. Also own FGG which has gained some momentum in recent times. Comsec even offer free brokerage to buy them. Pity I’m with NABtrade. Although we have quite a sizable holding in both now so not accumulating anymore at this time. Hence not elegible to join AA.

FGG a very interesting case. Particularly around the options expiry.

Goes to show what having options outstanding can do to your upside.
