    Happy new year all!

8 hours into the year already. It's definitely a thing.

I probably should say something about LICs... shouldn't I?

This will be a big year for me, because, if all goes to plan, I'll be retrenched in 4 weeks and a big truck will back up my drive and dump a tonne of money on the lawn as reward for a gnat's testicle shy of 25 years of yeoman service. And I'll have to wait until July 1 to shovel it into my super account - so here's hoping for a thumping great correction the day after I do - to bring those sky high LIC prices back down to somewhere I feel like I'm getting a good deal. Looking at you AFI.

Most likely I'll "retire" but will probably refer to myself as "long-term unemployed" in general conversation. And hang out here more, discussing coffee and chicken breast whilst practicing the correct enunciation, volume and inflection of "Get off my lawn!" as I slide inexorably into curmudgeonhood.

    Fingers crossed...:D

I am guessing a particular poster is more  with another share which happens not to be AFI.

    I had already done so.

And for all you spreadsheet pundits, a couple of days ago I offered @Big A the use of an asset performance template I developed. I'll put it here as well.

Feel free to use as is or modify it to suit your requirements.

I do not know but maybe this approach (from 2021 Annual Report) has worked for AMH.

I thought AMH isn't the best performer over long term and their dividend history isn't consistent either compare to AFI (obviously AFI is overpriced right now compare to the yield it provide). AMH mostly underperformed to the S&P 200 until 2019 when it started to perform better.

I feel your pain. He got me with that empty spreadsheet trick as well.
Here I was expecting a spreadsheet with the formula for investing enlightenment and lifelong outperformance. I guess @SatayKing is keeping that spreadsheet all to himself. :D

Why thank you, thank you... I'd like to thank the Academy....

This year it was only because I didn't stay up until midnight for the first time in decades and had already read all the papers.

Should keep a couple of posters anchored to the computer screen on the day wondering at what time it reports and why haven't they done before the next time they look.
