I calculated the yield myself based on excluding the special dividend. Basically (0.037+0.03625)/1.48 to get the yield before franking, and then multiply that by 10/7 to get a grossed up yield of 7%+. If I included the special dividend it would be about 8.5%.

I'm not going to take a bite of this one but I understand DJW is, for the first time in a loooong time, at a discount to NTA.

With heaps of ifs and assumptions about it some may want to consider it but not for me. It'd break my unwritten rule of one in, one out, stick with the amount in LIC's and look to build with the EFT's mostly international.

Dang, it's so silly. No matter what at a personal level I cannot help or stop considering investing.

Live as if it's your last day on earth but invest as if you will live forever was a quote I recall made by someone I can't. That and the one by some ***** It's all about me.

What has led to DJW's share price fall?

Yeah know the feeling. Not only high yield but high franking. However for someone with high enough income in personal name enabling them to mostly / fully take advantage of the franking credits (Labor factor) I think the trigger finger could be getting a bit itchy. Around / below $3 I reckon you’ll crack under pressure:D.
+1 It’s one addiction I’m happy to keep.

Funny now it’s been awhile since I stopped investing in direct shares it’s embarrassing how little I know what’s going on in this area. We were at O’Malley’s Irish Pub for a meal (and mineral water:)) last night and I thought to myself I think it’s owned by WOW. Then again do they still own their pub business. Haven’t a clue and thought to myself again how great it is to be oblivious what’s going on at a company level. Ignorance is bliss:cool:.

Search function should provide plenty of detail.

At first I wondered what you were doing in Canberra until I realised you were referring to another King O'Malley. I go to the one in Civic sometimes where street chess is played on Saturday mornings. Totally irrelevant comment but meh.

As for dabbling in DJW, you first. One must always be polite.

And I know about lack of interest in companies. Haven't followed any shenanigans lately apart from watching the enthusiasm, albeit muted, with WES trying to get into lithium and that (very toxic) product itself.

I'd be careful of jumping up and down with excitement though as if this takes off:

Gelion launches zinc bromine gel battery to take on lithium mainstays

I've been watching the developments in this area for quite some time.

I have been helping one of my higher tax paying offspring collect a few of these in recent weeks. They will be able to use the franking credits so no problem there. Price is up 3c this morning would be happy if it went lower:)

A follow up to this post.
Listed Investment Companies (LICs) Q1 2018 [LIC & LIT]

The 50% outperformance LIC's enjoyed when franking credit refunds were introduced would be equivalent to a 25% under performance.

    upload_2019-5-16_11-36-42.png

This is a relative strength chart against the index starting in March 2018 when the franking refund policy was first floated by Labor.

Pricing in the franking refund policy looks like it only really kicked into gear since beginning of the year. So far it’s about a 10% underperformance.

So dividend reduced.. can't seem to find anywhere on the document for the reason they have cut dividends. Were they being too generous with the earlier dividends and have had to come back to reality?
