There’s an arguement that if he had come across none of either he could have made the same statement.

I was actually pretty happy with the real estate agent I dealt with for PPOR I knew where I stood through the whole process of making an offer and he was very aware that my offer would not change. The whole process felt very honest and well handled. Other places I looked at agents wouldn’t give me the time of day, looking in the hills around 2014 as a Caucasian buyer calls and emails would not be returned, they had there target market and would not waste there time on other groups.

Or maybe she saw friends/colleagues/randoms listing houses in a hot market and doing nothing to get offers thrown at them, while they drive their shiny mercedes, and thought hey easy money

Out of curiosity what proportion does the agent/agency pay for the leases on their shiny new mercedes?

Generally: Agency - 0% - Agent - 100%, on a novated lease (if the agent is an employee not a consultant/contractor).

my mate is an agent and is doing very well, guess it depends?

There are pre-sales roles in my industry that can probably make 4x my salary, but takes a very specific type of person

Hi Just curious to know what is the specificity of that type of person? aggressive? cunning? hard working? quick to learn? or?

A good communicator without being desperate or pushy, confidence, lives and breathes property especially in his area, knows the local shops and community.

Will go above and beyond what most agents are bothered doing e.g. Will meet clients on a Sunday or at 9pm on a weeknight if that’s all they have available

Don’t think that’s fair? Sometimes you do what you need to do to get ahead

I'm assuming he must be quite persuasive too? And easily relatable so can find out what buyer's criteria are?

Going above and beyond is definitely the key attribute to succeed in any industry really. Most of the successful stories I've listened to all involve some level of hard work and strong work ethic, so kudos to your mate who did whatever it takes to succeed and that's the differetiator :)

    Cheers,
    David

    Yeah exactly right

Yep same in my industry, lots of complaining about not getting ahead but very few put the extra effort in
