i would love a wagon, i never used a but not much option apart from skodas or volvos (in my range ) but wife want suv, might have to bend the knee.

i love the type R especially as the last 2 years its been doing double duty as family car and track days , but for long-distance, i think my wife is tired sitting in it,

    perhaps a

sound like omega, it is expected tho, especially for low quality of life and manual cars in australia.

would you recommend it to a lotus virgin like me ?

If you’re talking about a family car and track days it might not suit.
All are 2 doors and unless you buy an Evora are 2 seats only (Evora very small children only rear seats). You can get the manual/auto option as you refer to, but depends on your requirements really. Clarify that and I’m sure some suggestions will come quickly!

As craigc suggested, really need some clarification on what you picture yourself doing with the car. Some cars (MX5, M3, Tesla, etc) offer a very multi-faceted experience, but a Lotus is very very focused. Even for a track car, they don't suit most people as they need to be driven a very specific way on track to reward the driver.

Just my 2 cents as an owner of 3 Lotus (all tracked)

I was wondering what people thought how the Australian classic car market compared to the UK and the US.
Seems like the UK has a lot of magazines, YouTube channels snd websites that are geared towards older cars, particularly European cars. The US as well has Haggerty’s and Parker’s that cover this topic.
Yes, Australia has some interest in old Australian cars but interested in knowing how our market trends compare.

    BYD Han arrives in Australia

Bring on BYD! Stunning vehicle with decent spec. The possibility of Australian made BYD vehicles in the future is great for our market

Picked up my Supra wing yesterday :D custom made to world time attack specs by Dynamic Aero Solutions and Sydney Composites.

Test fitted to the car with prototype MDF uprights (my own design as I'm learning FEA for shape optimisation and stress testing)

2 things that struck me - 1. Wouldn't Supra wing hit hood when opening trunk? 2. Impede vision through back window?
PS I just drive my car as long as it has tyres brakes and keeps me covered in the rain ... :D

I'm not exactly sure, but it doesn't extend higher, wider or further back than the car's body.

Ideally yes, however it will take months to fabricate my splitter and diffuser, so I'm going to try running the wing without the gurney flap installed. If it can keep the rear planted without inducing too much understeer, it will already be a huge help.

    1. Yes, it will hit the roof... however it's heavy enough that the struts can no longer push the wing into the roof. I need to find a stick to prop the tailgate up now
    2. It's above the line of vision through the back window, however I can just see the endplates in the wing mirrors:

My uprights are finished by the amazing people at Sydney Composites... my custom design was CNC machined out of 8mm aluminium alloy. Designed and stress tested in Fusion 360 to ensure it can handle the expected loads, and then some.

The car looks a bit more like a race car now :D Track test next Tuesday at SMP.

How does the car handle at its limits currently, I’m assuming oversteer?

I ran the car at Luddenham last week and with the new tyres (295 all round, vs 255/275 stock) the balance was definitely oversteery for me (although my coach said it was "neutral" ;))

The rear wing should help balance that out. In its lowest setting, it still gives a helpful chunk of downforce at my likely highest cornering speed... 170kg @ 180kph (0 degrees, 0mm gurney.) Uprights have been designed to handle the wing on its highest setting at max speed: 460kg @ 260kph (8 degrees, 35mm gurney)

That wing is enormous... think it'll be bigger than the one on the cup car!

I’d place it straight at Max 8degrees and take it from there.
