Cars are a funny one.... for those passionate about cars often you'll find they prioritise the cars ahead of things like financial freedom.... and those who are not passionate about cars use them as a status symbol of achievement or "elevation" and can both be in a genuine position of achievement or imitation!

Sometimes you get the rare combination of both... a few people kicking around here that fit into that class!

But like most things.... those who know what they're doing can find that cars are just another asset class that can work for you ;)

    Yes.....
But I took the view that life is short
So rather than buy another IP (or pay down debt), I bought a hot rod :D
The hard yard's continue (with regular cruising inbetween )

I see the Alpha in that front end. And that’s not a good thing. While the current shape was a boring car to drive it at least looked good. Now it’s ugly and boring.
Can’t imagine they will sell many. Apparently there will be a price increase. They could barely sell them at the current price.

0-100 has only improved from 4 sec to 3.9. Not that it makes any difference in the road but would have expected a bigger improvement from 375kw. I think it’s the lack of torque compared to the AMG V8 that is holding it back. Having owned the last two models of the M3 / M4 can’t see myself buying another BMW anytime soon.
Then again if AMG don’t do something special with the upcoming C63 and it’s monster 2 litre motor then the BMW might start looking more attractive again.

    I like this.

I love cars. And many different cars not just the high end stuff. Speaking of Corollas I still have fond memories of owning the old 88 flat back twin cam corollas. The first of the high revving fuel injected motors were a wonderful car. If I had the space I would love to own another one.

At the same time sure I see owning nice cars as a statues symbol and rewarding oneself for achieving financial goals. I think most people buy things for there practical use and for status as well. If that wasn’t the case we wouldn’t all be spending so much money on branded clothing , shoes and other designer items.

Is there such a thing as a manual car with an optional auto gearbox? My partner only drives auto and refuses to learn manual. I love manuals and find autos boring. Neither of us drive enough to justify owning two cars. Does such a thing exist?

That is par for the course, you wouldn't be buying a car at all if you didn't need that ;)

On the manual thing there was a period in time a few Mfrs like MB were making clutchless manuals (A class was one model as an example). They were horrible though.

Best you'll get is a decent sequential/paddle shift; can drive in full auto or manual model on demand. No clutch though!

Yes but not in cars (that I’m aware of) - think Isuzu truck, can have an AMT in smaller trucks.
