This is a day that those on annual salaries work for free. The annual salary doesn't change according to the number of days in the year.

People with mortgages or loans pay extra today as well. At least the last time I checked it out, interest was calculated daily using the annual interest rate divided by 365. Even on leap years. So the annual interest rate is 1/365th higher this year.

And for some (un?)fortunate to be born on this day, like a friend of mine, it's their first proper birthday in 4 years :)

Or you are paid for an extra day every year but a leap year. ;)

Interesting. Surely there is a case to argue this amount be refunded, especially if you are on a fixed rate of x amount pa, I don't remember reading my rate will vary on a leap year.

Clearly the banks are the enemy and IP investing is flawed, I quit.

The radio stations are banging out their usual, get a girl to propose on air to her boyfriend. Very predictable.

I'd say yes on the condition we got married on the 29th of Febuary. She can pick the year.

Those investors who collect rent monthly as opposed to weekly also miss out a days rent.

And those of us who pay lease by calendar month always feel ripped off in February - so the extra day is nice.

So they pay more mortgage, get less rent and get less pay.

Bogans don't recognise leap years. Many will be signing their dole forms today as 1 March.

I heard about the bogan couple who had a grow house. When they separated they were fighting for joint custody.

February is about the only month I don't hit my data cap on my phone and have to shell out the extra $10 for extra data. (I think i'm still good with the extra day). :)

I heard the dumbest thing a news reporter has ever said. She said there are 15 couples getting married today so if they manage to make it to their 75th wedding anniversary than they would have been married for 300years.

It's even worse for those in the US.

They choose the longest years to run their presidential campaigns. An extra day of politics.
