Have a leaking pipe ( underground) . Seems to be under a concrete footpath...

Any hints on how to approach repairs/ replacements.

Anyone got any plumber recommendations.??? OR what to look for in a plumber / repairer?

House is in the surburb of South Brisbane.

    Thanks

If the leak is on the footpath and "before" the meter, then wouldn't Urban Utilities need to fix?

If it is between the meter (on the fence line usually) and the house, then I believe it is your cost to fix. That would require a plumber and he may have to cut through the concrete.

By the sounds of the leak it is on the footpath on the inlet side of the meter box, just follow what Wylie has said ,you ring up Urban Utilities maybe depending on the summer workload the wait timeframe could be a few hours but they will turn up today, and as the leak is their problem they will be no cost..imho..

You need to know exactly where the leak is coming from. Not always easy to tell.

As said, you are responsible from the meter to your property.

    Hey Everyone,

Sounds like you've probably got this sorted by now but here's my take.

The water meter and pipes supplying it from the main are the responsibility of the Utility Company who runs the network in your area. Easy way to find out who that is, is to lodge a Dial Before You Dig request (Free, we have a block post on our website about the topic too), or check the water bill.

You may be able to check which side of the meter the leak is on by shutting off the stop valve on the meter and seeing if you can notice the area dry out over a few hours (make sure you fill up your kettle first).

    Cheers,
    Matt
