Latest Stats on Property ownership

    Hi All,

    I'm helping out a friend who is doing a university study however we need some numbers that I cant find updated values for.

    Basically we are after

    1) The amount of Australians who own an investment property
    2) The number of people who own 2, 3, 4, or 5 investment properties
    3) The number of people who own more than 10 investment properties
    4) The number of people who own more than 15 investment properties
    5) The number of people who own more than 20 investment properties

    I found the below links from google search but these are old numbers.

    I'm after 2016 or latest 2017 numbers if anyone has them or can link them to me?

    If someone owns their own house in their own name and then 16 houses in a company - how will this be shown in the statistics?

    No idea - how is it shown in the above statistics? I think the above stats are based on investments held not in a company and/or trust. All we are after is something similar to the above coming from a reputable source then I can talk to the authors directly to clear up anything.

    Problem is I cant even find up to date figures at all. Ideally 2017 figures

    I believe IP stats come from the ATO after the returns are completed. These wont have been processed yet for the years you require.
