Canberra's population will really take off post the 2019 federal election if Labor return to power which is looking increasingly likely. There will be a swelling of public service numbers no doubt.

Hey PC friends, the latest migration data looks good for Queensland!

    3101.0 - Australian Demographic Statistics, Sep 2016

"Compared with last year, Queensland had the fastest growing NOM, increasing by 19 per cent. New South Wales and Victoria remain popular destinations for migrants, growing by 11 per cent and 13 per cent respectively. Tasmania was the only other state or territory to see an increase of NOM compared to last year, increasing by 9 per cent."

Ah, MTR, you must be the only millionaire on this forum who doesn't have property here. One of your daughters might want a unit on the Coast, they are so cheap after all.

Its started raining this week for three/four days now in Brisbane. Not as bad as in Sydney last week though.

The mighty Wivenhoe Dam is at 68.2% only though.(yes the one that spills into the mighty Brisbane river and can cause it to overrun its banks. Start to get worried when it hits 100% and the rain doesn't stop..)
    Wivenhoe Dam
    full capacity / current capacity
    1,165,238 / 794,557
    68.2% full

but the Hinze dam (it seems this dam feeds into Nerang River, does not have spare flood capacity, so maybe Gold Coast region might be flooded in the next couple days if the rains continue.)
    Hinze Dam**
    full capacity / current capacity
    310,730 / 314,840
    101.3% full

Anyone living at Broadbeach care to give us an update?

QLD beats VIC for interstate migration net gain for sept 16 quarter for the first time in the last few years. the net is 3402 for QLD vs 3003 for VIC.
If this trend continues, QLD will be back at the top spot in the next year or two.
