Anyone have any cool/interesting/budget friendly landscaping ideas for this garden. Two retaining walls and the elevation gets steeper towards the back of the block.

Happy for you to recommend designs, plants, trees etc. Please keep in mind low costing/bang for buck plants etc.

    Thanks.

    @Westminster any suggestions on trees/plants?

Reckon you might have more traction if you're able to post a picture of the area.
Are there any similar high end finish new builds nearby, what are they doing?

I'll try get an updated photo of what the garden space looks like and post it. Most of the comparables are actually keeping landscaping very minimal. Pics below.

I guess it's one of those areas where costs can escalate quickly. I'd like to incorporate a paver path from the pool to the rear boundary of the property ( the highest elevation on the lot) which then has a garden bench waiting. Something like this:

I like the idea of less is more for landscaping - neat and tidy.
2nd picture looks good - 3rd looks like huge amount of maintenance.
I like the idea of having small flat grass area if possible.
With pool ensure non-slip path, don't want to be walking back over grass to get in or after being in.

3rd photo is huge cost and maint. Huge....

1st shot is best for me. Lots of grass (lush) and simple gardens at edges.

Not planning to do all those plants. Just the Bench at the end of a path really.

Definitely have a decent flat grass area. It's besides the pool. 6m by 6m. There will be pavers so feet won't get muddy/grassy.

What type of retaining are you looking at? Probably also important detail.

You mean material? Should be wood.

    Ugly o_O

Where is the house? Is it PPOR?

Treated pine is crap no matter where as far as Im concerned.

I did retaining walls for a living for 25 years, trust me they are rubbish!

I've seen other homes comparable and they use wood too. It's the most cost effective option . However the first retaining wall is actually the edge of the pool which will be tiled. Any ideas for dressing up a wood retaining wall? I'm all ears.

My first retaining wall in the garden is tiled like this. It's only the further back retaining wall which is pine.

@Brady Just spoke to my estimator, the cost for that black concrete plus footings etc is about $250 more per lm. The returns just won't be there on this item.

If it's tiled in a grey colour, would standard concrete look alright?

I'm not a fan of pine that's just me. But if you can't see it and not worth the $ then obviously no point in the extra cost.

Really need this pics of your yard :)

Already thought of leaving it as concrete but it just won't look as finished when compared to the tile ( 1st wall)

I'm not the greatest fan of pine too mate but the feaso/ comparables is really what I have to go off.

Once I have some pictures of the garden I will post them. Any good dressing up ideas for the further retaining wall?:D
