So we have a name for the builders who built the candle towers in Melbourne ...Now they are seeking to prevent the Victorian Govt from making them fix their mistakes.

    Disgraceful

Directors should be made personally accountable for defects that occasion death or financial loss to owners for use of dodgy products like used in the UK Grenfell towers. The article includes addresses of the problem buildings. That has to kill their resale value

Builder LU Simon blocks fix for potentially flammable towers

Wonder whether the local council, as the "building authority" under the current BCA could issue a defect notice, and even certify that no one can live there until defect fixed?

Thats the circular nature. Resolution by reasonable means to avoid declaring 117 buildings defective and 13,000 (? more) homeless people in Melbourne etc. And nobody dies from a simple balcony BBQ fire or discarded smoke

The whole construction industry is affected. Design. Materials, Build, Specifiers and so on. Make a house out of straw and its cheap. Buck stops with the builder according to warranty. Dont build crap needs to be the message.

Pheonix activities are a great way for Directors to be jailed.

Yes, I was fairly certain phoenix activities were illegal but had not checked until just then. You are right, crap should not be built although I can understand the complexity of the building industry and supply chain. I think resolution by reasonable means is always best but people's lives should be a priority and housing needs to be primarily safe.
