South Australia is in a recession!

 

Where did you see that SA is in a recession? The picture doesn't show that... its two quarters isn't it?

 

Not a technical recession but negative state final demand is never ideal. To make matters worse the only reason why SA didn't deteriorate more was because of government spending.

If, like Gretta, you're trying to save money, you could be accidentally strangling the economy

 

I guess it was to be expected:

I know people from Adelaide, and they say lots of shops are closing. No one has any money to spend.

 

It's almost like people are in too much debt and are paying it off, rather than spending.

 

From an individual/household perspective that's the smart move!
