Just an update from my side..

The job has been locked in :)

This week - My plumber/electrician will be doing the 1st fix
Next week - Builder putting in beam and removing wall / patch work etc
Following week - Kitchen delivered and installed, my plumber/electrician will be doing the 2nd fix

    Work to do my side..

Before the kitchen arrives all slate flooring to be removed (14sqm to go) as well as have all the floors ground down and sealed.

    Hi guys,

A long overdue update.. the wall removal and kitchen installation was completed last year and looks so much better than it did previously.

Going to be tilling in a few weeks, but will take some pics tonight to show you.

    Cheers,
    Robbie

We're doing the kitchen in our PPOR at the moment and it's frightening just how much some options add to the price depending on what you want. We were considering shaker doors (the square routed cutouts) but they was over 3 grand more than the plain doors with no functional benefit. Most of our lower cabinets are drawers instead of cupboards, these are expensive too. We changed the lower cabinet in our walk in pantry from drawers back to a cupboard and saved over $400. The mobs also gouge you for handles - they'd budgeted $25 per handle whereas we'll end up buying the same handles from the wholesaler for half of that. We've got 25 handles so the difference starts to add up. Handy really, since my wife fell in love with a tap that cost just shy of $1000 on sale on its own.

Well done @robbie_p! You got there in the end. A nightmare over. Looks great

Is it a relief now that it's done and you can enjoy it knowing it's done right

@bob shovel yup, thanks for all the advice along the way. I'm sure it will look even better when tiles are laid, painting is done, lights are installed etc. I kinda ran out of cash, (only got cash left to tile) but ill do the finishing touches over the coming months.

@neK At the moment I'm just using the previous extracttor fan. In the coming months ill decide what i want to do in terms of a rangehood etc.

On a similar note, I am going to look at painting the kitchen, lounge area etc.. pretty much the rest of the house (as all rooms are connected).

Any suggestions on a colour for paint? As you might have noticed, the trimmings and skirting are Dulux Aquanamel(vivid white - high gloss).

    Any suggestions for the walls?

As the new kitchen is very white with gloss doors, perhaps painting the walls white too might be toooo much white.

Perhaps a light shade of grey?

Umm maybe but I like white, then get colourful pictures and stuff to decorate. Gives you a blank canvas to work with.

You could get a nice photo of you on the jack hammer in the dining room :D

The tiling of the kitchen, dinning and meals area started this morning, so will start looking at painting in the coming days.. still leaning towards vivid white (high gloss) trimmings and vivid white walls.
