Yes Thankyou. Finally someone who can appreciate what work was involved. I done it all from start to finish in 3 weeks as well as doing my normal carpentry job through most of the days. There were some late nights but well worth it.

The beam in the roof and re strutting the roof takes a lot longer and is the more professional way to do it instead of having a bulkhead in the ceiling line. The boss is very happy with the end result. She cried when I first revealed the kitchen to her. I don't purposely make girls cry just for the record lol.

Yes I am going to get it revalued and but my first investment next year.

    Kitchen is stunning.

The OCD in me say this light needs to be centred in hallway. o_O

It is centre where it is as the walls return to the right where the 2 bedrooms are. I see what you mean by centre with the hallway though.

Good luck with it. Will it be a structural Reno or just a cosmetic?

Just cosmetic - I don't think I could handle structural at this point!

How did you go without a kitchen? How long was it out of action for?

Start to finish was 3 weeks. My wife and kids moved to my parents house 15 mins away for the duration and I just had microwave meals or cooked on the BBQ.

Wasn't to much of a hassle

    Well done @Brian84.
Love your pendant lights above kitchen bench. Can I ask where you get it from?

Also noted you have black sink. Would love a report after 3-months use.

I thought about dragging the Reno out a bit but I didn't want my wife and kids to overstay their welcome lol.

The pendant lights were from bunnings but I believe they don't sell those ones anymore.

Yes I have a black sink. Is there something I should be aware of with the sink. My cousin has a black one and has had it for a couple of years and still loves it from the day he got it and no complaints. I think the black sinks look classy as opposed to the stainless steel sinks.

    Wonderful job!

I always wanted something like that in our last house which had two large rooms - very large eat in kitchen and lounge room with the Northern windows in the lounge room and a full wall dividing them - but hubster would not go for it, kept thinking that it would reduce the value not having two seperate living areas... I wish I could have shown him your reno.. just brilliant :D

Out of curiosity what would that roughly cost using professionals?

Thankyou. In my opinion it is definitely better having it all open plan and no internal walls dividing the rooms. The cost would be around the $20k mark. It cost me around $16k doing a lot of the work myself. Although that includes getting the whole floor tiles and in the hallways 65m2. That was around $6500 alone. I saved a lot on the 900mm oven. It is a $6900 oven and I paid $1840 brand new with warranty at an auction.

Good work is not cheap. Cheap work is not good. Something to think about when hiring trades.
