The walls on my current ppor were so off and measurements so tight I had to strip the gyprock off the two side walls to get the Ikea cabinets to fit. A bit of a fiddle but you cannot tell when looking at the finished job.

    Looking forward to the pics.

Would some of the savings be due to “mates rates”?

Would you care to share her business name, if appropriate?

Sure, once I confirm the business details. I think she just set up another business specifically for this

Mates rates, perhaps a tad here, but I know the margins from my bathroom project where we got everything from China. You just cant come close in Australia for same product

Does she do outdoor kitchens? If not, tell her to get into that space. They are more of a rip-off than kitchens (if that’s possible).

Photos a tad blurry, so unfortunately cant see the stone detail

The island is 3 metres long and the stone is 70 mm thick.
The overhead cupboards are higher than standard, as I have 12 ft ceiling, otherwise would look a little lost

2 days installing but probably another 4/5 hours to complete as bulkhead required.

I will take more photos on completion with bulkheads kitchen1.JPG kitchen4.JPG kitchen5.jpg

    Love the crisp white.

Is the new island bench less deep than the old one? Looks like it's 900mm deep?

Curious with the original quotes you received- from kitchen companies? Or direct from a cabinet maker/joinery?

    Both
We got a few quotes, ranging from $48,000 which was cheapest and a relative quoted this

however stone was a lower grade, did not include 70 mm, and bench smaller, template of our older kitchen.
Also did not include stone splash back. Overhead cabinets were not be full height

Highest quote $65,000. I know expensive

    Quotes can vary significantly

Thanks. Just wondering if it would of made a difference going to a joinery.
For example, for my first PPOR, kitchen companies quoted me $10k, but going direct cost me $5k. And they had better quality and inclusions.
Anyway, your kitchen looks amazing. Well done.

@MTR love the stone SB, it that Calacatta Maximus? I can't quite make it out. I've used that before and in real life it looks amazing.

Edit: read your posts slower, stupid me you already stated. Is it larger profile tiling?

This is my approach exactly but I have found it’s hard to find tradies willing to work with you on inexpensive jobs like this. Would gladly get stuff off of Gumtree and have them done tastefully in an ideal world.
