Photos please when you're done. I want to see what a $30-60K kitchen looks like vs my el cheapo concoctions.

We got quotes for our kitchen from $25,000 to $33,000, not including appliances, sink etc.
We got it made, including installation for $8,000. Exactly the same thing.
Do not buy of the kitchen companies that come to your house. They are just getting them made and adding their commission. . One guy came out and would not leave. 11pm and he was still pressuring us to sign.

Agree, just go to a joinery.
That being said, I think @MTR kitchen has specs on the higher end. And for these kitchens, they still cost a premium.

    It’s actually a good price
We chose a similar (up-grade) design- stone bench alone cost close to 10k
It’s worth it if it’s your residence and you are going to enjoy it
No point in putting all your hard earned money under your mattress :D

Here are some pictures of old kitchen, which is dated and some water damage.
I will be keeping the stove and the range hood.
    Sorry, have doubled up here

Dismantled carefully, you could sell that kitchen for $1-2K. Take loads of photos before hand and draw up a floorplan.

the stone is granite, weighs a ton

Maybe an outdoor kitchen with bbq if you have the room?

On selling the benchtop though, typically people buy the cabinets and appliances but not the benchtop. It's normally too hard/expensive to modify.

If I lived in Perth I would be there with a truck whichever day suits you.

Where do you get it made if not a kitchen company?

Same place a kitchen company does, a cabinet maker.

It’s actually a beautiful kitchen full of character and charm. Can’t see the water damage, but the only thing that looks dated is the colour of the granite.

Yep. A lot of the big kitchen companies would contract out the making to smaller local businesses. And they likely have teams of contract installers. The kitchen companies make a margin on the supplier costs and the installers. They are sales organisations as opposed to makers.
Re: The China thing. MTR, it's good that you have a friend who does this regularly. We had a client last year bringing in the fitout for a couple of townhouses and the container went missing en route. Probably covered by insurance, but it blew out the timing on their project.

Thanks, it was a very good functional kitchen, just dated

I investigated other options using the existing, but it was not viable

Direct with the business that imports them. Not through a company that comes out, gives you a quote, adds their commission then orders it through the company.
